About the role
The Fundraising Director will serve as a core member of Greater Greater Washington’s leadership team and will work closely with the Executive Director, Managing Director, and Board. The Development Director will serve as a fundraising generalist whose primary responsibility is designing and executing a comprehensive development plan and identifying and securing gifts from foundations, individuals, and corporations.
It is expected that the Fundraising Director will have three core areas of focus: obtaining new grant funding, planning and executing an ongoing membership campaign for blog readers, and selling site advertising to monetize ggwash.org. Key responsibilities include:
Identify and secure funding from foundations, corporate funders, advertisers, and individuals, persuasively communicating GGWash’s mission and programs
Project revenues and track progress in reaching revenue goals
Train and activate board members and volunteers in the cultivation and solicitation process
Manage grant reporting
Develop and execute an ongoing digital campaign to convert readers into members
Oversee fulfillment of benefits for members
Implement a website digital advertising program
Identify and secure sponsors for in-person GGWash events
This is a full-time, salaried position with compensation in the range of approximately $60,000-70,000 commensurate with experience. The Fundraising Director will work primarily from Greater Greater Washington’s offices at our space at WeWork, 1440 G Street NW, Washington, DC.
We offer a benefits package that includes health insurance contributions, transit or bicycle commuter benefits, 401(k), and flexible paid time off. Work is mainly during the business day but will require occasional evening commitments for events.
You are committed to principles of urbanism and excited to build an organization that is making the Washington region greater.
You have a minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience in progressively responsible roles.
You are a fundraising generalist: a Swiss Army Knife who can handle foundation grant-writing, corporate relations, major gifts, annual campaigns, donor stewardship, communications, membership benefits fulfillment, etc.
You are self-directed and driven, capable of maximizing performance and operating with significant autonomy.
You thrive in a mission-based entrepreneurial start-up environment with a small and dedicated core team.
