The City of Fargo is seeking a Planning Coordinator to oversee the Community Development division of the Planning and Development department. The Coordinator provides leadership and direction to the development and administration of plans, ordinances, programs, policies and strategies relating to the maintenance and enhancement of the physical and social development efforts of the City by conducting research, analyzing data, developing plans, facilitating plan implementation and performing other professional planning activities. This position will be responsible for the management of up to five employees as well as consultants and contract employees. The incumbent will develop and manage projects, plans and programs, administer contractor and consultant contracts, coordinate financial incentives for developers and administer $1 to $2 million in federal community development and housing grants, national foundation grants.
Qualified candidates will possess advanced education equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Public Administration, or a Professional Degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture or special certification, plus 3.5-4.5 years of related work experience in municipal planning sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position. Experience understanding, reporting, and administering state and federal programs through HUD such as CDBG and HOME is preferred. A valid driver’s license or other evidence of mobility is also required. Salary begins at $72,176-76,523 annually, plus benefits, DOE.
