Enterprise Community Partners is dedicated to expanding our understanding of the role of design in community development – from architectural design of affordable housing to urban planning and community engagement to design thinking as a process for innovation. The Design team at Enterprise is a national voice in the community design movement. Our team is responsible for managing the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship and producing tools, resources and convenings for the community development field on issues of design and social equity. We work closely with other national initiatives of Enterprise like green, resilience, and health and housing. The Special Projects intern will be an invaluable team member in the execution of the Rose Fellowship and Design Leadership programs. This person will join a small, dynamic and collaborative team and have invaluable exposure to design for social impact and community development. The Special Project Intern will support the promotion of the Rose Fellowship program, recruitment of new fellows and host organizations, fostering an online and in-person alumni network, and annual retreat convenings. Additionally, there will be opportunities to support other programs in Design Leadership, like the Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute and other grant-making programs with graphic design, material creation and promotion, and internal processes.
This person will use concise, strategic, and visually compelling messages to creatively engage key collaborators and stakeholders. The position requires strong social media and graphic design skills. Additional important skills are project management, written and oral communication, and experience with online marketing best-practices. The position is full-time, reports to the Senior Program Director of Design Leadership and is based in our Boston, MA office.
This is a paid internship, and will need to be available to work 35+ hours per week. Strong graphic design experience is required.
Serve as in-house graphic design resource, creating graphics, print materials, PowerPoint templates and presentations, and updating existing materials. Maintain and suggest new ideas for the blog and social media editorial calendar. Champion best practices in social media engagement. Promote the Rose Fellowship application processes for both new host organizations and new fellow candidates through social media, online postings, webinars, mailings, conferences and other speaking engagements, and new materials. Be the champion for forging new and improved, online and in-person, relationships with our Rose Fellow alumni, as well as future fellowship finalist applicants. Collaborate with Online Services to update Enterprise website and internal fellowship portal with new materials, opportunities and information. Assist with the Rose Fellowship outcomes framework by analyzing baseline data, improving tracking system, and formatting the reporting dashboard. Research emerging trends, policies and design development tools for professionals in the public-interest design and community development fields. Engage with other Enterprise programs and departments as needed.
Recent Bachelor’s degree or current graduate student, preferably in Communications, Design, Architecture, Urban Planning, or other related fields Excellent communication, writing and graphic design skills; strong Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop skills are a necessity Experience using social media and web-based platforms to achieve business communications and marketing goals Experience with publication schedules or editorial calendars, and Mailchimp or other email marketing software Attention to detail and ability to track multiple projects at the same time Strong research skills and the ability to complete research and writing assignments independently Interest, knowledge and/or experience in public-interest design, green building and community development
